The Study of Policy Coherence for Development: Considerations and main dimensions

This document is a result of, and is integrated in a broader research process about policy coherence for development in three Spanish policies. It has been promoted by Plataforma 2015 y más in collaboration with Complutense Institute of International Studies (ICEI), Centro de Investigación y Estudios sobre Comercio y Desarrollo (CIECODE), Fundación IPADE and the Observatory on Debt in Globalization (ODG).

This article, written by Natalia Millán, pinpoints the dimensions of policy coherence for development, a concept with an ambitious goal: to achieve governments" comprehensive and global commitment in promoting development. The ultimate purpose of policy coherence for development, says the author, is to gradually change (domestic and international) public policies in order to integrate the perspective of human development as a cross-cutting issue. This document proposes the dimensions that have to be taken into account when articulating this transformative approach.
